When to Use Well Planned Start Assessments

Homeschooling rarely runs in a straight line. Some years flow smoothly, while others leave you wondering if your child is truly where they need to be. That’s why Well Planned Start Assessments are designed to be flexible. Whether you’re beginning a new homeschool journey, starting the year with a fresh plan, checking progress mid-year, or closing out strong, these tests give you the clarity and peace of mind to know your child is securely on track.

New to Homeschooling

When your child first comes home to homeschool, it’s hard to know what they’ve learned — and what might have been missed. As a parent, you may have only seen glimpses through homework, not the full picture. Well Planned Start Assessments give you that clarity.

By walking through the assessments together, you’ll discover your child’s strengths, uncover gaps, and step confidently into your role as teacher. Many new homeschool families purchase both the current grade and the previous year’s test to get a strong grasp of where their student truly stands. This way, you can build a secure foundation and know you’re starting from the right place.

Start of the Year

Choosing curriculum can feel overwhelming when you’re not completely sure what your child already knows or where gaps may still linger. If you didn’t test at the end of the previous year, starting with a Well Planned Start Assessment gives you the clarity you need to move forward with confidence.

By carefully reviewing your child’s strengths and weak spots at the beginning of the year, you’ll confirm readiness and prevent small gaps from becoming bigger struggles later on. This valuable insight helps you confidently choose the right curriculum and adjust lesson plans with assurance, knowing you’re building on a secure foundation from day one.

Mid Year Progress

We all start the school year with good intentions, but homeschooling is a heavy workload. It’s easy to get off track or rush to catch up — without really knowing if your child is grasping the right concepts. Add in online classes, tutorials, or outside teachers, and it can be even harder to stay confident about what’s sticking.

A Well Planned Start Assessment at mid-year keeps you in the know. It gives you a clear picture of your student’s strengths and struggles, so you can adjust now instead of waiting until the end of the year. With this insight, you’ll finish strong knowing nothing important slipped through the cracks.

End of Year Check

It’s easy to assume your child has fully grasped the year’s lessons, but even strong students can have areas needing more attention. Without checking, small gaps may carry forward into the next grade — and since many subjects build step by step, those gaps can make it harder to master new concepts.

A Well Planned Start Assessment at the end of the year provides clarity and peace of mind. You’ll see what your child has mastered and where they need support, so you can address challenges now instead of later. With that foundation, you can step confidently into the next school year knowing your child is ready for success.
