As parents, we are often on the lookout for new books and series that excited and engage our children while still offering spiritual, mental, and emotional nourishment. When we find those great books, however, sometimes we also need help engaging with our children as we discuss the topics introduced. How do we introduce deep spiritual topics? Kids need to understand who is wreaking havoc. It may seem like an annoying sibling, or a bully at school, or a harmful habit, but the true source of these issues is Satan. He is a real enemy and needs to be recognized as such.

While we have a real enemy, it’s important for our kids to understand we do not need to be fearful because God has given us armor in order to stand firm against Satan. Read Ephesians 6 with your kids and identify each piece of armor and what role it plays.

Help kids activate their armor by reading the Bible regularly so that they may know truth. Knowing what is true is crucial in order to discern what is of God –and what isn’t. Being able to identify Satan and his tactics is critical in order to be victorious in Christ.
